The Living Collective was born as a result of the founder’s personal experience when relocating from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. The house they were building was still in construction and they had already sold their residence in Durban.

This required that they look for alternative accommodation in Pietermaritzburg, where they had difficulty securing a short-term lease and as well as finding a fully furnished apartment. This resulted in a six-week stay in a hotel room for a family of four, which as you can imagine, was a highly unpleasant experience. The frustration, therefore, gave birth to the idea to provide a hotel alternative with the same service standards and luxury, but with more space and comfort of a home. 

In 2018, The Living Collective was born.
